Lilly Endowment Awards $15 Million to National Fund for Sacred Places

Philadelphia-based has announced a $15 million grant from the in support of its efforts to preserve historic places of worship in the United States.

The , a partnership between the and Partners for Sacred Places, provides planning grants, training and technical assistance, coaching, and capital grants ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 to help preserve significant components of America's religious and cultural landscape. The latest funding from the endowment will boost the fund's capacity to award capital grants and other types of support to community-serving congregations representing more than a dozen faith traditions in twenty-nine states and the District of Columbia.

According to Partners for Sacred Places, support from the National Fund, which was launched in 2016 with nearly $14 million in grants from the Lilly Endowment, has helped congregations leverage more than $9.5 million in additional funding for major capital campaigns.
